J. S. Bach - Aria Variata
This is a keyboard score of J. S. Bach’s Aria Variata, BWV 989. It is primarily based on the version found in the Andreas Bach Book from the early 18th century. This score was edited and engraved by Dr. Dominic Florence, and is presented without fingering or other editorial additions to preserve the original intentions of the composer.
The Aria Variata is a lesser-known work of Bach. It features a heavily ornamented aria followed by ten variations. This is an interesting early work of Bach’s that is not too difficult with regard to technique, other than the pervasive ornaments and a few passages that require intricate fingerwork. Despite its relative obscurity, it is a delightful work that is appreciated by audiences and performers.
