J. S. Bach - Partita 1

This is a keyboard score of J. S. Bach’s Partita 1, BWV 825, based on the first complete edition published in 1731. This score was edited and engraved by Dr. Dominic Florence, and is presented without fingering or other editorial additions to preserve the original intentions of the composer.

J. S. Bach’s partitas are some of his most popular and rewarding pieces. They are made of dance movements inspired by various European traditions. This score is the first partita, which is in B-flat major. The opening prelude is perhaps the most difficult part with respect to technique and musical understanding, while many of the remaining dances are light-hearted and relatively simple in construction. This partita, along with the second partita, is a favourite among performers and audiences.
